It is approximated that by year 2016 the Indian population will increase to 1.26 billion. If growth continues to be the same, India will become the most populous country in the world by 2050 leaving behind China. The fact that India will be having 18% of world’s population on 2.4% of the world’s area clearly suggests the pressure on its natural resources.
