GreenCIO Compute Index
A GPU-hour price you can audit.
Compare GPU-hour prices with the sources, quote age, and market coverage shown for each result.

Distinct venues required before a settlement is eligible to publish
Distinct sources required, counted independently of venue count
Maximum quote age admitted to a settlement panel
Uncertainty above this marks a settlement provisional and excludes it by default
Publication status
The calculation method is public. GreenCIO shows an index value only when enough recent source data is available. GreenCIO does not claim IOSCO compliance.
Method
How a settlement is built
Each stage states the requirement used in the calculation.
- 1
Collect and normalise
Quotes are gathered per SKU and region, normalized to a common currency and utilization basis, and stamped with their source.
USD basis · utilization ≥ 1% · skew ≤ 5 min
- 2
Qualify the panel
A settlement is only eligible if enough independent venues and distinct sources cleared the staleness cutoff. Thin panels do not settle.
≥ 5 venues · ≥ 5 distinct sources · ≤ 24h old
- 3
Trim and weight
Outliers are trimmed at three standard deviations and the surviving quotes are weighted, with each input's weight share recorded.
3σ trim · min weight 0.0001
- 4
Check before publication
A settlement whose uncertainty band exceeds the provisional threshold is marked provisional and excluded by default, not published with a caveat.
band > 15% → provisional, excluded

What is kept for every settlement
These records show how each price was calculated.
Naming convention
Every settlement carries a structured identifier, so an index reference is unambiguous about the accelerator, the region, and the tenor it describes.
GCI-{SKU}-{REGION}-{TENOR}
Included and rejected lineage
Both sides of the panel are retained. Every accepted quote and every rejected quote is recorded with the reason it was rejected.
Typed rejection reasons per quote
Inputs used
Each result keeps the list of quotes used in the calculation.
Quote list saved with each result
Source weight shares
How much each source contributed is recorded alongside the result, which is what lets a reviewer test for concentration.
Weight share retained per input
Method version
Each result states which version of the method produced it.
Method version saved with each result
Approved revisions
A methodology change requires an old version, a new version, an effective date, an approver, and a rationale. There is no silent edit path.
Revision log with named approver
Design principle
When the panel is too thin, nothing publishes
GreenCIO does not publish a price when source coverage is too low.
No silent fallback
If GreenCIO cannot verify source permission or quote age, it does not publish a price.
No substitute price
Provisional excluded by default
A settlement with an uncertainty band above the threshold is not published with a footnote. It is withheld, and the default has to be overridden deliberately.
band > 15% → excluded unless explicitly included
Clear data status
Every API response states where the data came from and when it was observed.
Source and observation time included

What reviewers ask first
Why does this page not show index values?
GreenCIO shows a value only when enough recent quotes from independent venues and sources are available. GreenCIO does not claim IOSCO compliance.
Read the governance designWhat happens when the panel is too thin?
GreenCIO does not publish a value when market coverage is too low. It does not replace missing quotes with an estimate.
How is this different from a broker or exchange-affiliated benchmark?
The structural question with any price benchmark is who benefits from the number moving. Our methodology, thresholds, rejection reasons, and revision requirements are published so the construction can be audited independently of any commercial interest in the level.
Can I see the rejected quotes?
GreenCIO keeps rejected quotes and the reason for each rejection. Design partners can review this record when source licenses allow it.
Is there a forward curve?
A forward curve is planned but is not available today. The roadmap lists the work required before publication.
