Microsoft / NiSource / NIPSCO: Northwest Indiana campus · site load undisclosed power supply agreement, October 2026
Announced Oct 16, 2026 · About 1.1 GW · Undisclosed
NiSource announced a long-term electricity agreement for Microsoft's previously announced northwest Indiana campus. Microsoft is expected to begin taking service in 2028 under a 20-year term. NiSource says its GenCo-owned shared resource pool will add approximately 1,100 MW of generation resources, and Microsoft will fund the generation and transmission required for its load. The release does not state Microsoft's load in MW, identify the campus site, or report delivered power. The 1,100 MW describes generation resources in a shared pool, not data-center capacity; it is excluded from compute, IT-load, campus, and energized-power totals. NiSource separately disclosed a 600 MW battery contract for shared pool resources. The release does not establish whether that 600 MW is included in or additional to the approximately 1,100 MW portfolio increase, so the figures are not added together. The 2028 service target is not evidence that the campus or all generation assets will be energized by then.
